Why Pumping Hurts (and What to Do About It)
Partager
Let's be frank from the start: pumping should never hurt. If you clench your teeth every time you turn on your pump, if your nipples are white, irritated, or injured, the problem isn't you. The problem is almost always due to one single detail: the size of your flange.
The myth of one-size-fits-all
The childcare industry has long operated with a standard: the famous 24mm flange, provided by default in almost every box. But female physiology doesn't work that way. More than 60% of women actually need a smaller size (often between 15 and 21 mm).
Using a size that's too large means the entire areola is sucked into the plastic tunnel. The result? Friction, pain, and most importantly, much less efficient pumping because the milk ducts are compressed by the vacuum.
A properly sized flange is the absolute guarantee of pain-free pumping and better milk volume.
How to measure correctly (and stop guessing)?
Forget old wives' tales with coins or dubious apps. The adjustment is precise to the millimeter for your comfort.
The golden rule is to measure only the base of the nipple (the part that protrudes), without including the areola (the darker area around it). Ideally, take this measurement right after a feeding or pumping session, when the nipple is stimulated. Once you have your diameter in millimeters, simply add 1 to 2 mm to find your ideal flange size.
Don't let pain ruin your pumping sessions anymore
Because we know it's impossible to guess your size by eye, and because your body can change over the months, we refuse to let you struggle alone with an unsuitable standard flange.
It's to solve this specific problem that our The Complete pack was designed. It automatically includes our Custom-Fit Kit. Inside, you'll find a precision tool to easily measure your nipples at home, as well as a set of sizing inserts (19 and 24 mm) to perfectly adapt the pump to your body.
Take care of yourself
Don't resign yourself to pain. The right equipment changes absolutely everything about your breastfeeding and pumping experience. Take the time to measure, insert the correct size flange, and finally enjoy serene and relaxing pumping sessions.
